Brief report, because Dad will shortly requisition the laptop again for work on his encyclopedia:

I got up around 11am, after which I had a small breakfast, finished The Clockwork Universe: Isaac Newton, the Royal Society, and the Birth of the Modern World by Edward Dolnick, and took Dottie (my parents' dog) on a longish walk in to Lake Windigo, around to the south portage, and back to the east shore via the inland path. Then I swept the roof -- it collects the most astonishing jumble of crud over the winter -- swept the steps, and helped Mom move some raked leaves from the back yard to fill in various gaps under the steps down to the dock.

We went out for dinner at the Brauhaus in Akeley, which is about a 45 minute drive from Cass Lake. (One has to drive a fair bit to get to most restaurants in rural northern Minnesota. Things are pretty spread out around here.) The food was delicious and we brought home enough leftovers to give us all a good dinner tomorrow as well. :-)

In other news, I have just now received my assignment for the Narnia Fic Exchange and am starting to turn options over in my mind. There are so many possibilities! I think the biggest question will be whether I try to fit something into my established timeline, whether I create an alternate interpretation of Narnia, or whether I do something completely off the wall, like a crossover. (I tend to think all crossovers are inherently ridiculous ideas. This does not, of course, stop me from writing them and treating them as realistically as possible. *grin*)

Now I must turn the computer back over to Dad. I should be able to get some writing done tomorrow, though, since he and Mom will be driving to Grand Forks to visit Mom's cousin Anita and her husband Albert -- otherwise known as the fundamentalist Christian missionary translators. *wry* They are nice people, but I have met them twice in my entire life and unlike Vicky, I don't have a career in common with them (Vicky does linguistics professionally), so I am staying on the island to keep an eye on Dottie during the day.

And that is that.
