I have acquired my Yuletide assignment! In an amusing coicidence, my recipient is a person whose "Dear Yuletide Writer" letter I'd stalked (via a search for our matching fandom) on the DYW Google spreadsheet just yesterday and had resolved to try writing a treat for if possible. I will have to refamiliarize myself with large swathes of canon, but I happen to own most of it and I KNOW the rest is at the library, so that won't be an issue. I am also pretty sure I won't have a repeat of the "in the decade since you last read the books, you have come to think people who act like the main character are gigantic self-pitying assholes" problem I ran into last year, which forced me to jump sideways into a canon I'd never heard of and fill a different prompt altogether.

*makes nefarious plans for Sunday afternoon and evening*

(I will tell you now and for free, my recipient and I did not match on a Susan Cooper or Diana Wynne Jones fandom. This does not mean I won't end up writing fic in those areas anyway, since those authors are more or less the running theme of my Yuletide experience, but at least this year it will be on my own time. *grin*)
