Thoughts about Homestuck, in light of recent updates:

Contrary to quite a lot of fandom, I do not really care about Dirk/Jake. If they work through their miscommunication, Dirk's clinginess, and Jake's... emotional capacity of a teaspoon, to borrow a phrase from a different fandom, good for them. If they break up, whatever.

Just please, please, please, DO NOT MAKE JANE GET TOGETHER WITH JAKE. He does not deserve her! He is a thoughtless dumbass! I never really knew why she liked him in the first place and I am on record as far back as, IIRC, July saying that I thought they would exacerbate each other's worse qualities rather than mitigating them, and after he has been such a monumental JERK, seriously, Jane, I don't care how hot he may be or how much you used to have invested in dreaming about him. Just... no. Please god no.

This is because, contrary to what I expected when I started reading Act 6, Roxy and Jane have become my hands-down favorite alpha!kids. I mean, I never disliked them, but oh my god, I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. I just want them to be happy and best friends (or more???) forever and the STUPID BOYS ARE RUINING IT FOR MY GIRLS.

You know, it is a strange and refreshing experience to have a fandom where quite literally half of the cast (...okay, half the cast discounting the Felt and the Midnight Crew) is female, the female characters are just as important to the plot as male characters and get the same level of character development (on that note, OMG MEENAH, I LOVE YOU TOO AND NEVER EXPECTED THAT EITHER, you crazy awesome awful greedy awkward secretly-kinda-sweet fish princess!), and relationships between female characters are given enough narrative weight that I don't have to invent them for myself -- they are RIGHT THERE IN THE TEXT.

Please do not let stupid boys screw that up for me. Please, please, please, please, PLEASE.

(Also, OMG Jane, be safe on LOCAH! I promise your waiting will end soon! Just... oh, I hope Caliborn and this iteration of Jack don't get up to anything too horrible before the beta!kids and trolls arrive in this session. *bites nails, frets*)
