Sunday night was hideously slow at work, so I decided to write a silly Homestuck Jade & Davesprite fic for one of my Cotton Candy Bingo prompts -- miniatures -- with the idea of doing something involving Jade's spacey powers, frogs, and a silly/awkward first date.

2000 words and nearly 36 hours later, I still have not reached the actual incident that fulfils the prompt. I wound up with a pesterlog format rather than traditional narrative, which is fine; both characters have distinctive voices and I find them easy to write. What is not fine is the way Jade and Davesprite keep taking turns derailing the conversation into random tangents and also into serious emotional fallout from Acts 4 and 5. Additionally, the fic has decided that it should be a fairly direct sequel to Instant Corpse Party (Party Not Included)... which, while far from unrelenting angst, is not exactly what I'd consider fluff either. (Hurt/comfort, maybe. Of a very platonic/familial sort.)

...

This is apparently how my life works this month. I have been writing stuff, but I seem to have lost the trick of finishing anything. On Saturday (also a slow night at work!) I wrote several hundred words of how Terezi met Nepeta for the first time. Unfinished. On Thursday and Friday I added a hundred words or so to at least five different WIPs. Unfinished. Before that I started trying to outline an original sci-fi/fantasy story... and yeah, I can't even finish an outline.

Argh.

Well, I mean, if the prompt started you but your muse doesn't want to finish the prompt, why not just finish the story? I mean, you don't have to stick to the prompt, you can just post it somewhere else.
I realize this is not a solution and I'm probably just being a butt, but. Um. Yeah. Sorry? -_-;
