portrait of the author at work

Am back in Ithaca and back at work.
Yay.
...
On the brighter side, I got about half of the next "Tides" chapter/ficlet finished last night. Sasuke alternates between fighting his teammates (literally -- they're having a free-for-all to get used to each other's timing and favorite tricks) and being all weirdly angsty and philosophical about the nature of the Uchiha clan.
It's fun for me, because I get to trot out strange theories about the Uchiha, about their mysterious meetings, about why Itachi's actions are really less surprising than you might think, and some hidden motivations behind Sasuke's own actions.
Also, there is random violence. Which is always fun. :-)
I think I am going to call it "Justice," but knowing me, this may very well change.
(And I'm trying to make him pay attention to Naruto and Sakura as people, not just as annoyances or as collections of skills and flaws, but he's not having any of that so far. *bashes Sasuke with the spikey mace of authorial intent*)
...
Y'know, this evening I really ought to get around to downloading and reading the last 10 or so chapters of Naruto, which I keep forgetting to do. Because it would be helpful to know more about Akatsuki and Sakura and Naruto's current pattern of interaction.
*resolves to be less lazy*
