Skateboard Guy did not come to work today, as I expected -- turns out he has pinkeye and bronchitis simultaneously, poor guy! -- so I worked 12-8pm, Boss Lady stayed until 3-ish, and Punmaster stayed until 4:30-ish.

The thing is, it's not hard to run the smoke shop alone in the evening, provided all the two-person tasks have already been finished. Things that involve going down to the basement or spending a bunch of time in the back room gathering items that need to be stocked up front in the main shop. You can't really be out back for more than a minute at a time if you're alone -- you have to gather things piecemeal and keep running out front to check for customers -- which makes all those jobs twice as time-consuming and stressful as they normally are. But we got all that stuff done in good order today, so I spent the last three hours of my shift fighting boredom rather than fighting time, which is par for the course on Monday nights.

And tomorrow is my day off, yay! *happy dance*

---------------

Some general life updates:

1. My parents decided that my adventures in flash housesitting worked so well last year that we will repeat the process this summer and fall. They will drop off their spare car at my place en route to Minnesota in mid-July and I will have possession of it until mid-September, on condition that I drive down to NJ every couple weeks to water their plants, pick up and sort their mail, and give their house the illusion of being inhabited. This actually works out well for me, since it gives me a car and the ability to potentially visit Susan on her birthday. :-)

2. My dad and I installed my air conditioner last Thursday, though I didn't actually need it at the time and certainly haven't needed it since then -- we might even dip down below freezing up in the hills tonight! -- but that's a much easier job for two people than one person, so we figured we'd just get it done while he was here. It's a LOT easier to put an AC into a window where it's previously been installed. All the screw holes are already there!

3. When Susan was here, we killed some time at Target and I bought a few new Tshirts. Yesterday I went through my closet and pulled a bunch of old Tshirts to give to my church's recycling sale in August. They are still perfectly fine shirts; they've just shrunk a bit over the years. (Specifically, they have gotten shorter from top to bottom.) I have taken to hang-drying most of my shirts over the past couple years in an attempt to prevent such shrinkage in my newer clothes, but the older ones are a lost cause and there's no sense keeping clothes I don't wear anymore.
