We are once again experiencing rapid staff turnover, boo hiss.

1. Skateboard Guy (PB) got a paid internship in the city starting next week, which he told Boss Lady (PM) about a month ago. His departure was not unexpected, since he's been trying to find a job in his actual career track (he does communications and advertising and stuff) for a while now.

2. Melodrama (MS) is back! She's only working half-shifts, four hours maximum (at her physical therapist's orders), but even so, that's twelve or sixteen hours a week and she'll hardly need any retraining since she's only been gone... four months? Ish? Of course this does mean her long-running feud with Lemme-Tell-Ya (BW) may flare up again, but eh, I like her better than I like him, so whatever.

(Apparently the way she's been killing time while trapped at home is by getting way heavy into Game of Thrones roleplaying on Second Life. Our particular fannish interests only very rarely overlap, but it's always nice to have someone who won't go "...um, what?" when I talk about fandom, fanfic, and related obsessions.)

3. And then we come to Punmaster (RE). Who wrote a little note giving two weeks' notice on Friday, and then out of nowhere on Tuesday morning called to tell Boss Lady, "Oh yeah, that two weeks' notice? Actually it's one hour's notice. I'm not coming in for my shift today, bye!"

*headdesk*

So Boss Lady got Skateboard Guy to work an emergency final tiny closing shift and rejiggered the schedules for next week and the rest of this week, and I guess it's back to advertising for job seekers via Craigslist. *sigh* Maybe this time we'll get lucky and find someone decent within a couple weeks. But I am not holding my breath.

---------------

In other news, it rained on the Ithaca Festival Parade this evening. All is right with the world. :-)

I should maybe clarify that when I say "the city" and forget to add any qualifier, I always, always, always mean New York City. It's a side effect of growing up in the greater NYC metro area. There is only ever one city. All the others just aren't trying hard enough. *wry*

Sympathies with the staff turnover, but mostly commenting to smile at your use of "the city," by which my mother also always, always means NYC. And she says the exact same line about the others not trying hard enough. Chicago? A pale imitation.
