oh for goodness sake, now what
Jun. 24th, 2013 02:36 amUm. I may have spent the night writing a Homestuck/Black Jewels crossover fic, WTF.
Okay, so it's an idea I've had for a long time, but it's one of the most stupidly inadvisable crossovers I have ever heard of. Homestuck is ridiculous enough already; there is no need to add more ridiculousness by making all the kids Blood and giving them Jewels and castes and stuff on top of their Aspects and Classes. Not to mention making the Darkness play nice with paradox space is just asking for headaches, even if I cheat and stick with Earth as a base setting rather than trying to reconcile things like Hell and outer space. So I resolved not to write it and thought I had successfully exorcised the plotbunny via scribbling some placatory background notes last November.
Apparently not. *headdesk* I am at 1,200 words and counting.
*hates self just a little*
*continues writing anyway*

Date: 2013-06-27 02:07 am (UTC)You could, of course, dump characters from other fandoms into a "new" Territory of Terreille or Kaleer, but I hate to lose the craziest aspects of Homestuck's own world-building, so I've been trying to go the other direction and dump Jewels into Sburb. Which is harder, to say the least.

Date: 2013-06-28 02:53 am (UTC)John: Warlord, Birthright Sapphire
Rose: Black Widow, Birthright Opal
Dave: Warlord Prince, Birthright Green
Jade: Witch, Birthright Red
Jane: Queen, Birthright Sapphire
Jake: Warlord, Birthright Purple Dusk
Roxy: Healer, Birthright Opal
Dirk: Warlord Prince, Birthright Green
Sburb renders access to the Darkness unreliable -- the Abyss and paradox space don't mix gracefully -- and the frog temples project some of the same effect, which is why Hellmurder Island is uninhabited and Jade and Jake rely on landen technology and guns. Tangled webs can't predict the meteors for the same reason; they come from outside the universe. (This applies in reverse as well; once Rose enters the Incipisphere, she can't predict anything that happens back on Earth.)
Also, Dirk and Dave are Eyrien (or some equivalent thereof). Because wings. Yes. :-)
