I thought I exorcised this pairing two years ago...

I have a tendency to free-associate as I fall asleep. Usually this only leads to interesting dreams. Sometimes, however, I solve problems, or remember things I really ought to do next week.

And really occasionally, stories come up and grab me by the throat.

I am now 2000 words into a fic that can best be summed up as "Rupert Giles meets Indiana Jones in an abandoned temple, and a demonic fertility goddess forces them to have sex."

I dunno. See the last time this pairing came up in my head -- I had a very strange dream almost two years ago -- I managed to get rid of it by writing "Wearing Thin" instead, which features Bill Weasley and a repressed Muggle librarian. Now I know that my switch only worked because the bunny was really nothing but a sex scene and a couple broad personality specifications. This time, the bunny came bearing an actual plot and location, which makes it much harder to get rid of or alter. *sigh*

It's not as if it's a bad story, or something I can't write. I'm just... a little bemused?

Maybe it just me, but I'm not seeing the wrong in throwing a librarian and archaelogist together. Now if only they were at it in the library of the abandoned temple, I may well drown in drool.

It's more a case of not being at all confident in my ability to write Indy correctly. See, I've seen the first 3/4 of "Raiders of the Lost Ark," and a brief excerpt from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," but both were many years ago and my memory of them is kind of patchy.

Apparently something in my subconscious thinks it's a hot pairing too, since this is the second time a plot bunny for it has attacked me. *sigh* I keep telling the bunnies I don't know enough about Indy, but do they listen? No!

I am tickled pink that people like my Naruto stuff even though it's gen instead of, well, sex.

But it's good to see gen stuff sometimes, especially when it's well written and has an interesting story (which Apartment Manager is, and does). You can find porn anywhere (though well-written porn is much, much scarcer), but it's almost impossible to find gen that isn't either a 3-page humor or introspection piece (i.e., not long enough to get to the porn) or written by a twelve-year-old.

This just seems like sex isn't the primary concern of the characters at the moment, which makes a nice change of pace from most fics.
