I have just realized that I badly want an egg-slicer. It is a pain trying to slice a hard boiled egg with a knife, and it occurred to me tonight that egg slices on crackers makes a nice light meal, and... why do I not have one already???

...

I also just like egg-slicers in general. When I was little, before I knew the actual purpose of the device, I thought it was a tiny musical instrument that had been misplaced in the kitchen. I mean, the wires go twing! when you pluck them, right? Obviously it's a funny kind of harp. :-)

In retrospect, I'm lucky I never cut myself on the damn thing.

You can use them to slice a hard-boiled egg, and then to slice an avocado, and then you basically have a fancy sandwich readymade!

Alas, I am allergic to raw avocado! But that does sound very tasty and efficient. :-)

I vaguely remember what one of those looks like, but as I'm not an egg-eater (or at least not a boiled-egg eater) I haven't seen one in quite a while! Surely they still sell them, though, and they can't be too expensive.

I can't think why egg-slicers wouldn't still be sold. There is no other tool I can think of that could neatly replicate their effect, and when you need one, you really need one. I will look for one this week. :-)
