Upstairs Neighbors R & A had a goodbye party in the back yard today -- I attended for a couple hours before saying my farewells and heading off to do other things. They loaded most of their possessions into a moving truck on Saturday, and they plan to leave for good sometime on Monday afternoon. (Monday morning is for doing a final cleaning job on their apartment.)

So I will lose my current internet access on Monday, whenever they get around to turning off and unplugging their router.

But!

I am scheduled to get my own, new internet connection on Monday afternoon. I have an appointment for Time Warner to come run a cable into my apartment (or just hook up the cable that's already here, perhaps), and connect it to my new wifi cable modem router dohicky. They won't let you make precise appointments -- you just get to pick a window of either 8am-noon or noon-5pm. I chose the latter, for obvious reasons.

I fully expect there to be delays and complications, because that's how my life seems to work lately, but with luck I should have a connection sometime this week.

And until then, there's always the public library, and Cornell's computer labs. I have used them before; I can use them again. *sigh*

And now back to writing. :-)

I hope the installation process is painless! I always try to get the first appointment of the day because oftimes, they'll take forever to arrive -- once, I was stuck with an appointment time towards the end of day and after waiting for hours, they called to say the technician wouldn't be able to make it that evening so they rescheduled for the following morning which meant another wait.

One thing to note and I'm not sure if this is standard TWC policy or not -- most of my appointments have been support-related and it may differ from an installation appointment:

TWC may call you several times prior to the appointment to confirm you don't want to cancel/reschedule. Make sure you always pick up the phone and confirm! They do this the day before and even an hour or so right before your scheduled time. Failure to acknowledge and confirm the appointment can lead to them cancelling your appointment. Hopefully it won't as troublesome for you since they actually want to add subscribers and not annoying existing ones. :-)

Hope all goes well on the TW installation front. From personal experience, there is really no telling what time they will show up. I had an 8-12 window that they had to call me and cancel at 11:45, but I also have had a noon-5 window that the tech called me at 10:30 to see if I was home to do it then (luckily I was).
