Recently I have felt that my fortune-cookies have been mocking my unemployment. I mean, when I repeatedly get things like, "The greatest happiness comes from the greatest activity," or "Opportunities multiply as they are seized, they die when neglected,", or even "The attitude within is more important than the circumstances without," I start feeling slightly defensive.

But after today's fortune cookie, all is forgiven. It asked me, very simply and cheerfully, "Aren't you glad you just had a great meal?"

Yes, little fortune cookie. Yes, I am. :-)

I really can't help feeling that the only valid fortune cookies are the ones that will /not/ provoke smirks when "between the sheets" is added on. Not coincidentally, these are also the only fortune cookies that are actually useful and do not mock you in your misery. I feel this also says something about this culture's attitude toward sex, overall, but the important thing is how useful this is in identifying valid fortune cookies.
