history is far from a settled field
Mar. 8th, 2015 02:16 pmRandom fact about my dad: he is a professional historian. He is also the kind of person who annotates his books, extensively. Which means that as I'm reading his well-worn paperback copy of Eric Hobsbawm's The Age of Revolution, I also get to read him augmenting or contesting Hobsbawm's evidence and analysis. It's a bit like eavesdropping on a lively seminar discussion. :-)
