How my brain works:

1. Hey, it's about time I actually did something with my completely untouched Cotton Candy Bingo card from last year. I will write fluff!

2. Hey, I have a file of prompt suggestions people have left me over the years. Why not combine one of them with one of my fluffy bingo square theme words?

3. Okay, my theme word is "believe" and my prompt is Sakura and Sasuke thwarting an assassination attempt on Naruto in the Summer Camp & Politics AU.

4. *starts writing*

5. Oh my god, stop talking about politics, you are depressing me beyond words and this is supposed to be cute and fluffy, and whoops shit there goes the assassination attempt.

6. Um. Wait.

7. It occurs to me that I may I have built a slight conceptual mismatch into this exercise.

8. ...

9. You know what, fuck it, there's flirting and they all end up together; it's fluff if I say it's fluff and I will fight anyone who tries to argue.

10. But oh my god, stop talking about politics, seriously.

I don't know why I do these things to myself, I really don't. *headdesk* But hopefully the results will at least be interesting to read!

*wry* Characters, eh? Always dragging their feet to get to the payoff. That arc usually does manage to be relatively fluffy, though, even when they're angsting for most of a story!

Yeah, I have mostly wound them back to a "yay togetherness!" moment, and now just need to figure out a way to wrap the story up that sort of ties back to the beginning and doesn't leave dropped threads all over the floor. *sigh*
