My reaction upon receiving my Yuletide assignment was, more or less, "Oh, okay; I can write that; that's easy." And then secondarily, "I wonder if I should maybe ask the mods to ask my recipient if I can do [thing], because while [thing] doesn't exactly match the 'prompt' part of the prompt, it does match some stuff in the 'letter' part that's appended to each prompt, and while I like the prompt a lot, I like [thing] even more. Because of reasons."

...

You know, I think I will email the mods after all. There is no harm in asking, and then I will know for sure one way or the other.

I'm still fishing for ideas - my recip asked for a relationship dynamic that I'm pretty keen on writing but not much in the way of specifics. 'Scool, there's plenty of time yet.

Yes, getting assignments early is very helpful that way. :-)

I did end up asking the mods, and my recipient got back to them right away so I have the answer to my question. Apparently one element of [thing] is very welcome, but another potential element of [thing] would not be. So now I know what to aim for!
