Things done today:

1. Washed, dried, and put away laundry
2. Put paid bills in the mail for Monday morning pickup
3. Raked three more bags of leaves
4. Put out recycling
5. Vacuumed apartment
6. Dusted ceiling corners, tops of doors and high bookcases, etc.
7. Continued to organize and/or throw away random crap all around apartment
8. Called Susan
9. Emailed parents and Vicky to hash out some logistical issues

I also identified a problem with my kitchen sink which needs repair soon. The seal around the base of the faucet fixture has dried out and stopped actually sealing -- it's all grotty and ancient, and the faucet covering now slides back and forth if pushed -- so when water gets up onto that part of the sink rim, it seeps under the faucet fixture and drips down into the cabinets beneath the sink. Fortunately I don't actually keep anything on that part of the cabinet shelf (because I have had issues with this sink before and am duly wary of it), but that's still asking for mildew and mold to grow, which I can frankly do without.

My plan is to point this out to Dad and see if it's something I can deal with myself. If so, I will fix it. If not, I will call Landlord Dude and get it onto his to-do list.

I read the title of this post and burst out laughing, because it's so true for me also.

From your description, it's a pretty simple fix. All you'll need is a tube of caulk and a few minutes.
