"Guardian" ch. 17 is now at 1,850 words, for a gain of ~325. I am still not entirely sure what Yukiko's going to be doing in her POV scene, but I have all the physical setup in place (plus character motivations) and can probably wing it from there. I haven't managed to wrap up Sasuke's scene, though, because I need two particular things to happen but I am having trouble setting one of them off. *grump*

Also I feel there is no narrative tension through his entire scene, which I think is probably at least half a misreading on my part brought on by general exasperation with my own words, but still half an actual objective problem. Oh well, it's easier to fix stuff once it's written than to spin words out of nothing. I'll just bullshit some kind of conclusion tomorrow and make it pretty later.

In WIP Big Bang news, I opened ch. 9 of "The Courting Dance," realized I had no idea what the emotional tone of the chapter should be (or, you know, the emotional attitudes of the characters), and have resigned myself to doing research on my own damn story, so as to reacquaint myself with whatever the hell I was thinking a couple years ago. *sigh* Such is life.

*wry* Yeah, one reason I go back and read my wips every now and then is not just to hunt up some motivation, but to remind myself what I was thinking. Because sometimes it takes a while!

Yeah, I still have a general sense of the story arc, but a general sense is not good enough when attempting to avoid weird plot and characterization glitches. Fortunately it's not a terribly long story so rereading has been going pretty fast. :)

I've totally been there too! Sometimes, I have a general idea of where I left off and wanted to go, but I can't remember the exact tone of what I last written and have to go back and even re-read a chapter or two from before just to get into the same mindset.

Yeah, I usually start a writing session by rereading the last few paragraphs of what's already there... but the longer the gap, the more I have to reread to recapture my intent. But you know, it could be worse! When I was finishing "Secrets," I had to reread over 140,000 words to figure out where I was and where I needed to go. *wry*
