Cascadilla Creek, Monday, 25 July 2016, 4:30pm

On Friday, I repotted the pepper that had been in the leftmost windowbox. I think the expanse of open soil where its poor chomped-in-half neighbor used to be looked too much like a tempting food-burial site to squirrels. (I caught one red-pawed trying to bury a plastic ant trap there on Thursday. It had knocked another three leaves off the plant in the process. That was the last straw.)

I sprayed animal repellent again on Friday, and all the plants made it safely through my weekend absence. Even the tiny zombie plant continues to zombie along.

Lastly, as you may notice by the water on the pepper leaves, Ithaca got rain today! This is wonderful! If we're very lucky, we may get rain again next weekend, which we need very badly. By way of illustration, I offer a picture of Cascadilla Creek in proper muddy flood... at a water level that only just barely reaches what should be the normal, calm, clear water level for this time of year. *headdesk*
