1. Tested my printer, discovered the ink had gone all weird, and therefore went to the public library to print copies of my resume and reference list. I have a recurring problem with ink, probably because I only use my printer about once every three or four months; this means that when I want to use it, the ink has often dried up and I have to buy replacement cartridges long before I should need to judging by number of pages printed.

2. Changed all my linens.

3. Washed laundry. Dried laundry. Folded, hung, and otherwise put away laundry. (Ugh.)

4. Scrubbed the base of my refrigerator, which had some weird stains.

5. Washed and dried my bathroom throw-rug, which also had some weird stains.

6. Signed up for three Not the IRS live-event classes.

7. Called Susan on Saturday, Vicky on Sunday, and Cat and my parents on Monday. Human conversation is a good thing. :)

8. Moved all five recycling bins from the front porch to the curb on Sunday night. Moved the empty bins back to the porch on Monday morning.

9. Job interview Monday morning. This involved getting up on time, walking to a bus stop and catching a bus on time, and then walking two blocks to the relevant place of business. I think the interview itself went well, and I wrote and emailed thank-you notes that afternoon. I should learn their decision by the end of the week.

10. Entered my weekly unemployment benefit claim.

11. Photographed my peppers and made my weekly update post about them.

12. Bought groceries, including tampons and ibuprofen because I had apparently not been thinking ahead last month and therefore ran out of both on Monday right as my period started. *headdesk*

13. Planned two cooking projects for this week: pot roast, and kind of an improvised fajita filling without the fajitas themselves. I did some preliminary setup for the former, so as to hopefully reduce the inertia to actually chopping up ingredients and such on Tuesday or Wednesday.

14. Decided I hate my NFE and have restructured so I am only telling half the story in my outline, because it turns out to have about three time the emotional punch that way and also the other half kept being mostly filler. *sigh* Remind me again why I keep trying to write things?

I always had that problem with printer ink. Opted for laser printers instead. Toner is more expensive, but it lasts a lot longer, in your case that would be years and it won't dry out between uses.

Keep an eye out for pricing on the features you need. When you're looking, take a note of the printer price, but also check the cost of ink/toner. Most inkjets are almost given away and they get you on massively expensive ink with a really short life. Laser printers have more expensive toner, but the stuff doesn't dry out and you'll get a couple of thousand pages out of a cartridge. Be aware that there's usually a full and a half version of the colour toners when checking prices. Laser printers also don't tend to do the inkjet thing of coming with the half full ink cartridges when new, but always worth asking.

My first laserjet was a secondhand domestic HP. Second one was an ex-Navy HP that had been hammered in it's previous life but was essentially bulletproof. Last one was a colour laser multi-function, one of the first affordable (but still expensive) domestic models. It was a HP, but was somewhat eccentric compared to it's mono predecessors. Just replaced that with a smaller footprint version from Brother, that has duplex functionality, faster printing and it was cheaper than a set of genuine toner cartridges for the HP. Plus I scored a discount and a cashback, making it cheaper again. Wacky.

Still surprised by the huge price drop of these things over time. I remember the first Xerox plan printer I saw that cost a hell of a lot more than houses at the time. It would be a decade before they started being affordable enough for businesses to replace Diazo printing (stinky!).
