stuff done: Saturday-Sunday
Nov. 20th, 2016 06:48 pm1. Did another two hours of paid training for Not the IRS.
2. Brought my peppers indoors Saturday night because of inclement weather. Kept them indoors because the weather has gotten progressively worse through today -- in other words, the snow that had already covered the surrounding hills several inches deep is finally sticking to the ground down here in the lake valley. Bleh.
3. Gathered a bunch of information for some of my youth group kids who wanted to know how they could make a difference after the election. Printed copies and brought them to church this morning.
4. Spoke with one kid's mom to discuss his strengths and weaknesses and evaluate how he's been doing in the group so far.
5. Picked up and paid for the pair of February Cayuga Chamber Orchestra concert tickets I purchased through the church service auction. Mom is buying a third ticket directly from the orchestra's website. This will be my birthday activity to accompany my birthday dinner. :)
6. Tidied my apartment.
7. Dusted my apartment.
8. Vacuumed my apartment.
9. Changed linens.
10. Washed laundry. Dried laundry. Put laundry away. (Except the stuff which is still air-drying, obviously. I will put that away tomorrow evening.)
11. Texted Cat and Susan to set up phone calls. Spoke with Susan this afternoon. Cat should be calling around 8:30-9:00pm.
12. Made preliminary arrangements to attend the memorial dinner for Mr. M, by which I mean I RSVP'd to Mrs. M, told my parents I intend to come, and told Miss Cactus I might take that Saturday off work. I have not yet purchased bus tickets or told my bosses I will be taking that day off.
13. Bought a birthday card for my aunt.
14. Photographed several of my kitchen cupboards and drawers (and their contents) and emailed the pictures to Mom so she can plan what dishes and utensils she needs to bring up from NJ and which she can leave behind because I already have them.
15. Took recycling bins to the curb for pickup.
16. Emptied wastebaskets. Took resulting trash bag to trash can. Took trash can to curb for pickup.
17. Tidied fridge -- moved some things to the freezer, repackaged other things in smaller containers, and dumped one thing (which had grown two separate kinds of mold, yeurgh) into the compost bin out back.
...
As you can see, I am well into my 'oh god Thanksgiving is coming, I have to get my apartment fit for company' burst of mad productivity. *wry*
ETA:
18. Shoveled the sidewalk -- or at least the east sidewalk. I will leave the north sidewalk for tomorrow and/or for somebody else to deal with. (Actually, I will probably have to shovel the east sidewalk again in the morning, since the snow has only temporarily lightened rather than stopped, but I figure a few minutes' work now will reduce my frustration later by enough to make the trade worthwhile.)

Date: 2016-11-21 01:30 am (UTC)Yes and no. A moderate/isolated snowstorm often blows through in October or November, and scattered light snow is perfectly normal in December. However, a BIG storm before Christmas is unusual since the real snow doesn't usually hit until January-March. This storm is less dangerous now than if it had hit two or three weeks ago, since the majority of the leaves have finally fallen, but it's still not great. People are also more put out than usual because we'd been having unseasonably warm weather for several weeks so we're not yet in practice for winter, and of course the snow is disrupting Thanksgiving preparations and travel plans.
