1. Wrote and posted thank-you notes for holiday presents. (Some years, I am totally on top of this. Others, I don't get around to that task until nearly February. I console myself with the thought that I will never be as bad about cards as my Uncle Charles, who has sent me birthday cards a full year and a half late. Literally.)

2. Bought groceries.

3. Boiled a dozen eggs.

4. Bought a six-pack of black socks at Target. I failed, however, in my quest to buy a new bra. My needs are quite simple: I want a bra that A) has an underwire (I need the support), B) DOES NOT have padded cups (I loathe them, and also I want to downplay my chest rather than accentuate it; my boobs are quite large enough on their own without drawing extra attention to them, thanks ever so), and C) is not made of lace (because even the nicest lace itches like a motherfucker). Also I like things that don't cost an arm and a leg, which means I am quite happy with plain, solid-color beige, gray, black, or white bras. Target used to carry several styles that fit those criteria, but apparently not anymore! Everything was either padded to a fare-thee-well, had no underwire, or was made entirely of hideously scratchy lace.

(Seriously, WHY DO PEOPLE MAKE LACE BRAS? And how do other people WEAR them? Are their boobs completely devoid of functional nerve endings? Do they have strange mental powers that let them scratch their chests bloody in public without anyone noticing? WHAT ARE THEIR DARK SECRETS?!?!)

Target's shift in lingerie stock annoys me because I still have $19 left on my Target gift card, and now I have nothing to spend it on. Well. I could maybe look for a long-sleeved shirt or two... but that's not what I really need at the moment, and anyway, I think I would prefer to buy a few shirts from LL Bean that will last fifteen years rather than Target ones that will wear out in four years maximum; the price difference is not that big, and the quality difference is totally worth the extra money.

Also, I will have to look elsewhere for replacement bras. Drat and botheration.

5. Successfully bought a second bottle of the gold acrylic paint I am using to refinish Mom's picture frames, because after I dealt with the first frame, I knew one bottle wasn't going to be enough. A Michael's employee helpfully directed me to the correct aisle, because apparently Martha Stewart paints are kept separately from all other brands and Mom liked the Martha Stewart paint best when we bought craft supplies this fall.

6. Taped, sanded, and painted four picture frames. I am getting better/more efficient as I go along, which of course means that as soon as I really get the hang of the project, it will be done.
