Yes, it's time for another [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree ficlet! Just one more and a tag to go! (I'm putting this one up first because the next one has alternate versions -- one's in story form, and one's in memory/character study form -- but I'm an idiot and forgot to save the extra version to my floppy disk.)

Theme: #17 - Fever
Warnings: none

( Fixation )

---------------------------------------------

Interestingly, this is not at all what I intended to write for this theme and title. The fic, as written, covers the main points I wanted to make, but the form and structure were a huge surprise to me. Stories that write themselves are always somewhat disquieting, even if they're also something of a relief when I'm beating my head against more recalcitrant projects... but overall, I'm okay with the way this one turned out.

On a completely different note, it's Election Day. US citizens, go vote! Free, democratic societies are only as good as their citizens are willing to make them, and voting is a responsibility as well as a right. So go punch holes, or mark ballots, or press buttons, or flip switches, or whatever. Each individual vote may not have much effect, but they add up, and it's the principle of the thing that matters as much as anything else.

...

Besides, sometimes they hand out stickers. :-) I got one today. I also got a corn muffin for 50 cents, because my polling place is an elementary school and the local PTA took advantage of the day and held a bake sale. Mmm, corn muffins...

Closing in on the end of the [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree themes!

Theme: #20 - Far away
Warnings: None

( Unexpected Turns )

---------------------------------------------

NaNo so far:

11/1 -- 1,825 words (900 "Secrets," 925 "Two Guys and a Girl")

11/2 -- 550 words (175 "Beauty," 375 "An Ounce of Prevention")

This is the third of my dystopian outcomes. Again, I am quite sure canon isn't going here, but barring a few details -- like the Ginny/Harry/Draco, obviously -- I think it very easily could.

Theme: #21 - Naptime
Warnings: Darkfic. Very, very dark. Also, character death, non-traditional sexual arrangements, and extremely dubious moral choices.

( Quietus )

Full moon dates are accurate for 2001, unless I screwed up my research.

Guess what? It's another [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree ficlet!

Theme: #15 - Stop that
Warnings: none

( Pressure )

---------------------------------------------

Guess what else? I finished the 30th piece of "Fixation, and Other Stories" last night! It's called "Unexpected Turns," is about 2,500 words long, and is the third 'not quite main sequence' ficlet (the others being "Solstice" and "Beauty"). VICTORY IS MINE, SAITH THE AUTHOR!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

Ahem. Anyway, I still want to write a 31st ficlet, as a sort of tag to the main sequence, but I can probably get that done tonight or tomorrow. Then it will be time get into the swing of NaNo and whatnot. (I bought the dice today. Dollar stores are LOVE.)

My main goal for tomorrow, though, is to do laundry. Ah, real life.

---------------------------------------------

Oh, and Happy Halloween to those who are actually doing anything by way of celebrating the day. I am too lazy to bother with costumes or candy, but I have great appreciation for those who put in the time and effort.

Cheers!

Theme: #13 - Irritating people
Warnings: none
Note: drabble (by which I mean exactly 100 words)

( Novocain )

---------------

In other news, ff.net has apparently fixed the alert function problem and caught up on the backlog of messages. Yay!

In other other news, chapter 9 of "Guardian" is at 600 words, chapter 8 of "Lemonade" is outlined in detail, and I've added a few hundred words each to two original stories: "Beauty" for Dad and Vicky, and "The Painted Sky," which is an Ekanu story. Oh, and I have the 30th piece of "Fixation, and Other Stories" outlined, as well as a rough idea for the 'tag' ficlet. Double yay!

It's time for another [livejournal.com profile] thirtyforthree ficlet, folks! This one was just fun to write.

Theme: #14 - Forbidden
Warnings: crack AU
Summary: In which Draco is a vampire, Ginny is a member of a mystical order of vampire hunters, and Harry just wants a normal life and for these strange people to get out of his bedroom, thanks.

( Xenophilia )

...

I wanted to mock those "He's a vampire and I'm a vampire hunter, his clan killed my family, I'm sworn to kill him, and what is this devilish yet sensual pull I feel toward him...? -- oh no!" romances more, but alas, this is not James and Lily's story, and Harry refused to ask the relevant questions. Possibly I can fix this in the collected version.

---------------------------------------------

In other news, I have three days off in a row, starting tomorrow!

Of course, GS is sick and left work early today (stomach problems, which had him vomiting after lunch), so I may get called in to cover somebody's shift... but IN THEORY, I have some of that semi-mythic thing called 'free time.' I plan to enjoy it. *resolve face*
