1. Failed to get a haircut on Saturday morning, because my barber was out of town on vacation. *sigh* I will try again this week.

2. Walked to Agway on Sunday morning in search of trellises for my squash, but did not find any of the type I wanted. Ah well. Perhaps I can train them up the posts of my porch railing?

3. Returned a library book I'd been meaning to return for over a month now.

4. Caught a mouse under a bathroom plunger.

...Uh, okay, context. So, the particular Not the IRS office I work in is right next door to a restaurant, so occasionally we get mice. It's unrelated to anything we do; they just get confused sometimes and get into our break room.

I noticed a mouse scurrying behind the filing cabinets on Friday, which I reported to Hill Boss, who called an extermination company, who scheduled an appointment for Monday. On Saturday, apparently the mouse began trying to venture into the public parts of our office, and Hill Boss had to repeatedly chase it back into the break room with a broom.

On Sunday, I went into one of the bathrooms to replace an empty roll of toilet paper, saw something small and dark gray scurrying around the base of the wastebasket, and realized I'd shut myself in with the mouse.

I figured I had to try catching it, so long as I had it trapped in a relatively controlled space. But what to catch it WITH? The wastebasket was full. The used coffee cup in the wastebasket was also stuffed full of paper towels. But! There was a plunger next to the toilet.

So I chased the mouse around the edge of the bathroom with the plunger, and finally trapped it just before it dashed to safety under the cleaning supply cupboard.

Then we put an 'out of order' sign on that bathroom and just left the plunger there overnight until the exterminator arrive Monday morning. He slid a manila folder under the plunger and carried the whole thing out to his truck, whereupon he reported that the mouse had died overnight (exact cause of death unknown: maybe suffocation, maybe fright, maybe I'd knocked it on the head in the process of pinning it down) and set out a bunch of glue traps in case it had friends.

And that is how I know my work-related dead mouse karma is still going strong. *sigh*

5. Bought four plastic storage tubs for planting squash.

6. Changed linens.

7. Acquired a new back screen door and door frame, yay! (Thank you, Landlord Dude. Thanks are also due to Landlady, who came by and did a whole bunch of yardwork.)

8. Took kitchen compost to the communal bin in the back yard.

9. Photographed my vegetables.

10. Repotted Damocles, one of my big hanging spider plants.

11. Made my weekly Facebook update post.

12. Got some writing done over the weekend and Monday, even if it wasn't always the writing I intended to do, nor was it as many words as I'd hoped for.
