So today Cat (or Quetzle, when she's beta-reading) and I went to Jo-Anne's. It's almost 45 minutes away, but it has the best fabric, and very little other crafty-type stuff to clutter up the place. She needed pattern ideas for six yards of green satin a friend rescued from a junkyard, and I needed cloth for curtains, since I am sick of having no light in my room when I want a bit of privacy from the apartment building just across the alley.

I found the perfect fabric. It's a light ivory cream, with a pattern of tiny embroidered lines, just enough to break up the monotony of a solid color but not enough to be busy or distracting. Of course, it was only 45 inches across, and my windows are 3 feet across, which means I need two lengths of at least 2 feet wide to get the curtains to gather and drape properly.

Okay, fine, so I just make very thick curtains and get lots of the fabric. But each curtain length must be 5 feet long, and I only had 8 yards of fabric -- four lengths, at 5 feet each, makes 20 feet or just under 7 yards. So I could only get two windows worth of curtain. I have four windows. (Granted, the fourth one is smaller than the others, but still...)

So I had to get 5 yards of another fabric, the closest match I could find, to do the third large window and the small one by my computer. Bugger. I so wanted four curtains of the first fabric. It was perfect!

*sigh*

Anyhow, tonight Cat, Susan and I will do Bad Action Movie Night, and I'll see about renting some more Holocaust films to review for my Film final. And then Cat and I are going to Dewey's Comic City for their Midnight Madness sale. There are a few graphic novels I've been wanting for a while... *rubs hands gleefully* Plus I managed to talk Cat out of a depressing green-and-black plaid for her new skirt and into a nice denim with an embroidered black pattern. Go me!

I think that's all for today.
