As I recall, my score was 36. That's including the 5 point bonus for saying where I found it. *sigh*

The really sad thing about my life is that I had practically NO exposure to popular culture (by which I mean music and any TV other than PBS) until I was 10, ie 1992. And then it still took until I was about 15 before I really knew anything more than the most superficial things about it. (Though I did listen to an awful lot of country while I was 13-14, mostly because my friend Cat did and I carpooled with her.)

So for me not to know much about 80s music? Not surprising at all. The only pop/rock songs I knew before high school boil down mostly to "Thriller," "Beat It," and something by Nirvana; I can't tell you which, because I couldn't understand the lyrics through Cobain's screaming. Oh, and I also knew some old Beatles and Beach Boys tunes, and possibly some early Elvis.

Anyway. U2 I know because I like them. Sting I know because Cat's obsessed with him, and I don't dislike him. Anything else I know comes from listening to the radio over the past five years, not living through it!

It's up! It's up! They didn't send it back for revision! Mwahahaha!!!

*does the dance of diabolical fic completion*

Um. Yes. What that boils down to is that "Wearing Thin" is now posted on The Dark Arts at FictionAlley. It's in the restricted section, on account of being R-rated, so I'm linking to it via my author page, here.

The story is quite different from my usual, in that it's rather explicit slash (romance is not my forte, let alone actual sex!), but it has the standard creation of original characters, random insertion of philosophical issues, and tendency for even the nice bits to go kind of not-fluffy. Basically, it's a couple years after OoP, and Bill Weasley has stumbled into a relationship with a Muggle librarian named Greg. This is one evening in their lives.

Do me a favor and read it? *big puppy eyes* Please?

P.S. Side note to any BtVS fans... the original inspiration for this story was a dream I had involving Giles and Indiana Jones in bed together. Just in case anyone's interested.

It's gray. And raining. And cold.

I want my spring back!

I rather like that idea. It seems representative of my life.

Peter reflects after PoA.

Trust )

I am now inspired to write another Peter monologue, this one post-GoF, to explain why he didn't leave Voldemort and what exactly he thought about the ridiculously involved plan to snatch Harry from Hogwarts. I mean, why not just nab him during a Hogsmeade weekend, for goodness' sake? Or at night during detention? False-Moody was there all year long!

I know, I know, there wouldn't have been a story otherwise, but still. Voldemort's psycho, as was Crouch, but this version of Peter very much isn't. So why did he go along with that mess?
