Andrew visited this morning. I rarely get to see him, since we live a few hours apart. Also, since I've been using public computer labs instead of having my own internet connection, I haven't been using any instant messenger programs, which is how we used to talk. So it's good to see him in person.
I also got to pass on the juicy gossip about Cat's new boyfriend. *evil grin*
---------------------------------------------
I won't have much internet access tomorrow, and then I'll be cut off until Monday -- this is the trouble with relying on public computer labs at holiday time. *sigh* I will spend my time writing and reading the books I got for Christmas. And probably going nuts from boredom, since I have no friends in Ithaca and thus nobody to celebrate New Year's with. Wah!
In retrospect, I should have just written off the job search for this week and stayed in New Jersey until this coming Monday.
Oh well. Enough whining -- story time!
( The Way of the Apartment Manager, 2 )
Other writing news: "Paint the Town" now has 12 completed scenes. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish it with Luna's POV, so I now have to add two more scenes -- one Ginny scene, in which everyone tries to explain things to Ron, and one Hermione scene in which the H/D/L threesome go home and the two girls try to hash out where they're going from here.
Chapter 3 of "Apartment Manager" is about half-finished. I am now working with 5 basic characters, 3 canon and two original. I'm probably taking liberties with the backstory of the canon characters, but I don't think I'm actively contradicting anything so far.
Also, Chapter 4 of "More or Less the Same" -- my Jossverse fic, in which I attempt a vampiric authorial avatar during season 4 of BtVS -- is now started, to the tune of about 1000 words. I'd almost forgotten that story was floating around on my hard drive, but the structure of chapter 4 seems to have worked itself out in my subconscious and is now ready to be put on paper. Well, on pixels, technically, but you know what I mean.
And chapter 8 of "Secrets" is edited and submitted to FA. *Liz does the mad happy dance of washing her hands of a chapter* I don't have to worry about it anymore! Ha! Take that, stupid story!
Chapter 9 has a detailed outline and some already-written snippets, and I outlined chapter 10 yesterday, so I feel justified in taking a break from that story while I work on the other stuff. As for "First You Have to Get There" and "Strange Likenesses," well, I'm not feeling them right now. They can just futz around on the backburner until I clear away some of the more pressing stories.
*looks at story list* Man, I have got to stop this multi-tasking before my brain explodes.
