wherein Liz speechifies about elections

Work was kind of "Aaaaagh" all day long -- the kind of day where there's no single thing you can point to and say "That was the problem!" but it's just one thing after another and you constantly feel like you're running about twenty minutes behind yourself.

But! It is now over.

And I am going to kill another thirty minutes surfing the internet, and then I am going to vote in the New York Democratic primary election.

I'm not saying who I'm voting for, because I'm only about 80% decided, and that's after going back and forth and back and forth for, like, two weeks now. Whatever. I am going to hike down to Fall Creek and sign my name and go into the voting booth, and make a choice. That is democracy in action -- one woman, one vote. :-)

The thing I hate about cynics is that they say, "Well, you know, your one vote doesn't really count -- it won't change anything," but you cannot think like that or the system falls apart. Yes, usually elections aren't won by a single vote, but if everybody gives up and stays home, then we might as well declare ourselves a monarchy or something. Democracy is a responsibility as well as a right; it dies if you don't exercise it.

But enough speechifying. Back to websurfing. :-)

Today was *my* big day to be a citizen--jury duty in the morning and voting in the evening!

It's a lot of work, but IT'S WORTH IT.
