Things I have done today:
1. Cash a check
2. Pick up a book I had on hold at the library
Things I tried but failed to do:
1. Get a haircut (they were not taking walk-ins)
2. Get a passport photo (Google lies about which local businesses do this)
Things I intend to do in the next few hours:
1. Buy groceries
2. Write stuff
Things I did not intend to do but did anyway:
1. Nearly dehydrate myself just by walking into town (I hate summer. Hate it so much)
2. Experience an earthquake

Date: 2010-06-24 03:14 am (UTC)I am not fond of winter either, but it's easy to put on another layer of clothing and extra blankets on the bed. There are only so many layers I can take off. *makes face*

That you got to feel one is kinda cool.

Date: 2010-06-24 04:15 am (UTC)I have a friend who is deathly afraid of earthquakes, but I wish I knew what it was like to feel (a minor!) one. I hear people in Japan just think of it like a regular occurance, like "Fine but chilly, and a minor earthquake at abot 4:30pm". But I may be very mistaken about that last.
And in response to your last post!
War and Peace In Mind by Jeune Chat (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3263773/1/War_and_Peace_In_Mind) is a Sky High fanfiction someone recommended to me a long time ago. I have never read it, so can't guarantee its quality (I get the feeling it's much, much longer than it has to be, and also has far more telling than showing). But it does not focus on romance! And it doesn't have any Mary Sues! Which hopefully puts it above the other dreck in the pit... Anyway, I hope it's something like what you were looking for! ^^b

Date: 2010-06-24 05:16 am (UTC)It felt like my house had become a boat and was floating on gently rolling water for a minute or so. Nothing dangerous, just unsettling.
I have read that story and enjoyed it very much. (This despite the first-person narration, which I am not usually fond of in the slightest.) It could indeed stand to have various stuff trimmed and various other scenes expanded, but it is long enough to get seriously absorbed in, it has lots of thoughtful world-building, and it has a plot that isn't romance. Also, it doesn't forget Ethan, Magenta, and Zack, which is always a bonus. :-)
