Actual review submitted to "Paint the Town" at ff.net:

look i havent started reading it yet and i want to but i am seriously danted by
i, its HUGE

break it don give us a break i read LOTR etc etc but this is takin it a bit far

LotR??? Oh, come on! My story's only 18 thousand words, not 150 thousand or more. Sheesh.

Besides, it's a one-shot. It was conceived and written as a unit, not as a chaptered story. Yeah, I broke it into pieces for LJ, but that's only because I wasn't sure I could post the whole thing at once. I'm not sure what the limits on post length are.

Also? Learn to spell. And try some punctuation marks. They exist for a reason.

(This grumble brought to you by Liz's fried brain -- Excel spreadsheets can get to a person after a while.)

IF i foudn somethigntoo large to read at once I'd save it and read it in bits.
Ther are f.net stories of 10020 words postedi none piece. now tat's wher i'd ask soemen to cut it in bits for sanity's sake.

Okay, I've had people complain over the content of fics they have read, and the pairings in fics they haven't (some things should be sacrosanct!), but I've never had anyone bitch about length in a story they haven't even started.

Also, I think he or she read the Spark Notes version of LotR. I can't imagine someone getting all the way through without a little bit of correct spelling rubbing off on him.

I think someone should give out an award for the wankiest reviews. (I've saved mine.) Except people will start commenting like idiots on purpose.

MORONS. I guess a lot of people have very short attention spans (aka MTV syndrome ;) I post most of my stories on Portkey, and I'm always amazed by the plethora of stories that are 50,000 words long and have 30 chapters. WTF??! I guess some people like to post more often (you certainly get more reviews the more often you post - response isn't necessarily proportional to quality). What other people call a chapter, I usually call a scene, and most of my chapters have 3-6 scenes in them *shrugs* Different strokes for different folks.
