yay computers!
Jul. 7th, 2016 07:03 pmIt turns out I got the 'your repairs are done!' message in error -- a Geek Squad person moved my case from one list to another once they realized the old hard drive was busted, and the notification system read this as my case being closed and a new case being opened rather than one case continuing under a different categorization -- but by the time I arrived at the store, my laptop had just finished downloading a new copy of Windows (10 this time, in place of my old Windows 8) so it worked out all right.
I reinstalled Chrome (which remembered all my bookmarks and extensions/apps, bless), reinstalled Office (free, thank you Microsoft for not losing my purchase records), restored all my files from my backup external hard drive, and got my wallpaper and stuff set the way I like them. Now I just need a functioning internet connection and life will be good. But that, I am afraid, will have to wait for the TWC technician tomorrow morning.
