So. "Beauty," the story I plan to give people, is at 4,700 words and is somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 finished in rough draft. I need to finish it tonight and tomorrow so I can format and print multiple copies on Thursday.
If I can't make that schedule, I have an alternate story, "The Moon's Daughter," at about 2,000 words, which is finished. I plan to format it this evening.
And on top of that, this morning I wrote the next scene in chapter 3 of "Guardian," because I am fundamentally incapable of staying focused on anything. *bangs head against table* So chapter 3 is now 1/4 finished in rough draft, which is right on schedule. Damnit. I do not have time for this!
*runs off to apply for another job*
ETA: The heck with "Beauty." I'm giving all relatives except Dad and Vicky a copy of "The Moon's Daughter" instead. Immediate family can be fobbed off with IOUs, but everyone else had better have a physical product in their hands. So I'm going with the safe option.
Granted, this is a fairy tale in which the protagonist starts out as a complete jerk and I get to gouge out one of his eyes and burn his hand and arm to useless meat before he really gets a clue, but still. It has a happy ending!
(Everything I write seems to go morbid to some degree, unless I work very hard to keep it light. *sigh*)
